I was thrilled when Ashlee and Travis asked me to be their wedding photographer and thrilled again when Ashlee decided to do a bridal shoot at Laguna Gloria<\/a>.\u00a0 I have always wanted to\u00a0do a\u00a0bridal shoot there and finally was going to get the opportunity.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0I had to wait until after the wedding so Travis couldn’t peak – and his first look at Ashlee\u00a0in her dress at the ceremony was priceless.\u00a0 Look for those images to be posted in about 3 weeks.\u00a0 For the curious, we put up bridal shoot images in a password protected website on Pictage, so only the bride can see them.\u00a0 Once the wedding has taken place, we remove the password so everyone can see the images.\u00a0 And we provide the wedding guests each with an “event card” which is a business sized card with an image of the couple on one side and instructions to access the website to view images and order prints.<\/p>\n

As it was very hot on July 24th when we did this shoot, we started in the mansion at Laguna Gloria and shot there for an hour and then spent about 25 minutes outside getting these images.\u00a0 We always have a plan for shooting so there is not a lot of sitting around or waiting, but even more so when we are shooting outside in the heat.<\/p>\n

Laguna Gloria is such a beautiful setting inside and out.\u00a0 Inside, the decor with iron gate, the upstairs “green room”, the satay, the stairways all provide wonderful areas to shoot.\u00a0 But more than anything else is the exceptional window light.\u00a0 Soft directional light is key to beautiful images, and window light can often provide some of the best light, and Laguna Gloria window light is the best of the best.\u00a0 Large windows and windowed doors with beautiful surroundings provides the photographer with so many options to capture beautiful images.\u00a0 We do use some flash on occassions to provide a bit of fill light or hair light or just\u00a0a touch of brightness to the bride.<\/p>\n

Ashlee, her Mom, my son Michael who assisted and I had a wonderful time on this shoot.\u00a0 We played “Modern Bride Model” up in the green room and on the satay.\u00a0 But as you can see, we also captured beautiful traditional images as well.\u00a0 Stay tuned for the wedding images in about 3 weeks!<\/p>\n
