Leigh and Raul

Leigh and my daughter Ashlee are best friends.  I was honored when Leigh asked me to be her photographer.  And this was a great chance for me to get to know Raul better.  One of my goals is to make all my sessions fun for the grooms.  Another goal when we are shooting in Texas is to keep cool.  I think we did pretty well even though the temperature was near 100.  Check with Raul on the fun coefficient, but I can definitely say I had a great time with Raul.

We planned the engagement shoot to start on Annie and South 1st Street.  There are some wonderful nooks and crannies right on the Northwest corner of those two streets.  We were also able to use the sun to do some nice backlit pictures with the sun from behind lighting up the hair.  As we photographers say, this creates “separation” from the backgronud so the subject does not just merge into the background of the image).

From here we went to the Long Center and a change of clothes and we worked our way over toward Butler Park.  These locations offer beautiful Austin skyline shots including the shots with the dogs.  As with all session, I encourage bringing props, pets, or whatever is meaningful.  That makes for a much more fun and interesting session.

We finished the session at the Lamar walking bridge and the City of Austin Power Plant with it’s “Art Deco, Gotham City” look.
