This engagement shoot was a bit unusual for me… Ashlee is my daughter!! She will be getting married to Collin December 3rd. I can’t wait! And NO, I am not shooting her wedding. I will happily be playing the “Dad” role. I have always joked with Ashlee over the years that I wanted to go to the “Daddy Daughter Dinner Dance”. Well, December 3rd is going to be my chance!
Ashlee’s engagement images are actually from two sessions. We did a short session on South Congress to get some images for her save the date card. The full engagement shoot was done behind the Four Seasons, Butler Park next to the Long Center and the Lamar walking bridge.
We did some shots with Ashlee and Colling walking towards the Austin skyline and back from Butler Park. Normally, I will shoot with a wide angle to capture the entire skyline. This time however, I used my long 70-200mm lens which “compresses” the background (in this case the city buildings like the Frost Building) and makes them seem much closer. It is a very cool effect which I have used before when you want to “bring the background in”.
